Commencement

Commencement is one of our most cherished traditions, one that marks a major milestone for you, your family and the faculty and staff who have supported your journey at Charlotte.

The University will hold three commencement ceremonies for our fall 2026 graduates. Two ceremonies will take place on Friday, December 11, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and one ceremony on Saturday, December 12, at 10 a.m. The ceremonies will be held in the Dale F. Halton Arena located in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center. Please review the clear bag policy. Backpacks, umbrellas, balloons, banners, flags, signs and noisemakers are not permitted.

After the graduation application deadline of September 17, the commencement committee will determine how the colleges are divided between the ceremonies. Graduating students will receive ceremony information by October 1. The website will also be updated.

Please be advised that only graduating students and commencement personnel are permitted in the commencement assembly and seating areas and may participate in the commencement procession and ceremony. If a personal assistant is required as a disability accommodation, please contact the Office of Accessibility and Accommodation.

Graduating students are required to have a UNC Charlotte student ID card or mobile ID in order to enter the graduate area. If you do not have a valid UNC Charlotte ID card, please follow the instructions on how to download a mobile ID.
